Most fundamentally, St Matthew's University is committed to the success of our students. And how do our students perform? With US Medical Licensing Examination Step One pass rates of above 90%, our students' performance is on parity with students from U.S. medical schools and far above the average level of students from other non-U.S. schools (61%). Our graduates are placed in outstanding residency programs across all of the medical specialties, including recent placements at the Mayo Clinic, Northwestern University, Vanderbilt University, the University of Florida, Maine Medical Center, Ohio State University Medical Center, University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, and Albany Medical Center (New York).

Surrounded by delicate coral reefs and gentle tropical breezes less than an hour from Miami, St. Matthew's Basic Sciences campus is located on Grand Cayman in the Caribbean Sea. The Cayman Islands are part of the British West Indies, so English is the national language.

The Cayman Islands offer stability, a strong tourism trade, a safe community, and highly developed technology and health care resources.

St. Matthew's state-of-the-art campus offers wireless internet connectivity, excellent anatomy, histology, microbiology and clinical skills labs along with technologically-advanced classrooms, spacious study areas and student lounges. An inviting and newly renovated residence hall with access to beautiful Seven Mile Beach is just minutes from the campus.

After less than two years studying the Basic Sciences in Cayman, our students "return home" to the United States or Great Britain to study the Clinical Sciences. Clinical rotations are offered in high quality teaching hospitals throughout the United States and England, including numerous sites in New York, Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Maryland and multiple other states. St. Matthew's students stand shoulder-to-shoulder in clinical rotations with students from medical schools in the US and England.

St. Matthew's is one of the few Caribbean-based medical schools to be approved by both the New York and Florida Departments of Education. We are accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Colleges of Medicine, whose standards are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

St. Matthew's University offers a rolling admissions process with no deadline to apply. However, seats in each class are competitive and early applicants will have the advantage of securing a place in the semester of their choice. Semesters begin in September, January and May.
